Treat transport, storage and handling as one scope
A portable building project can involve more than a journey between two addresses. Collection, storage, loading and unloading may all need to fit a site programme. Nova has handled these stages for portable buildings, including the wrapped units shown in our project photography. Every new movement still needs its own review.
Gather the cargo information
Provide the overall dimensions and weight of each unit, the number of units and clear photographs. Include any available manufacturer or handling information that identifies relevant requirements. State whether the figures are final. Changes to the cargo after a transport discussion should be raised before the movement is confirmed.
Discuss collection and delivery access
Share full addresses, site contacts and the available space at both ends. Describe access constraints and the proposed loading and unloading arrangements. Site photos can help the planning conversation, particularly when access or placement is unusual. The appropriate vehicle and handling arrangements need to be assessed for the specific job.
Allow for the gap between stages
Sometimes a building is ready to collect before the receiving site is ready. If storage may be required, discuss the expected period and the conditions of the later release. Identify who will confirm that the destination is ready, and how changes in timing will be communicated. Avoid leaving the storage stage to be arranged after collection.
Confirm responsibilities before the movement
Make clear which party is arranging transport, storage, loading and unloading. Provide the relevant cargo and site information so the requirements can be assessed and the scope agreed. Our project team can discuss the stages Nova is being asked to support and the further details needed to plan them.
